TCCD-Makulu-2009-Image-1024x681The Center for Contemporary Dance is now registering dancers for the 2014 Winter Concert, MAKULU: A Contemporary African Ballet. MAKULU celebrates the magic of family, love and miracles in this high-energy African ballet, through the story of a mother wildebeest’s daring journey to reunite with her herd.

All students, regardless of age or skill level, have the opportunity to participate in the Center for Contemporary Dance school’s annual Winter Concert in a role that highlights their skills and sets them up to shine.

Additionally, the dance works presented in MAKULU are connected in a continuous story, which means this production will also cast featured performers/characters. All interested dancers are invited to audition for a featured role in MAKULU.

In keeping with the spirit and mission of the school, the audition is a multi-part process that also teaches dancers how to successfully audition. In the audition, dancers will learn a short African dance combination and must attend final auditions for casting purposes.

Dancers ages 6-12 MUST attend these 3 sessions to audition for a featured role:
5:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, August 1
5:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, August 8
5:00-6:00 p.m.  Friday, August 15 (final auditions)

Dancers ages 13&up MUST attend BOTH sessions to audition for a featured role:
12:30-2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9
12:30-2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16 (final auditions)

Auditions will be held at The Center for Contemporary Dance, 3580 Aloma Avenue #7, Winter Park FL, 32792. Please arrive on time to each audition component dressed in form-fitting black dance attire; footwear is not required.
