Mary Love Dance Projects (MLDP), a company in residence at the Center for Contemporary Dance, will present Melodic Behaviors on Saturday, September 27 at the The John & Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center. Melodic Behaviors is a benefit performance that includes a silent auction and wine reception with all proceeds benefiting the Company’s free arts education and community outreach projects.

Melodic Behaviors will be an intimate performance of contemporary dance and live music set in the round, and will feature selections from MLDP’s current repertory in addition to special community dance, set in MLDP’s classical and balletic style that will highlight local student dancers alongside MLDP’s professionals.

“For me, making art is really about reaching out to others, so the idea of community is always a central part of my work. We are very excited to have local dancers for this concert, which helps us tap into new energy and engage our community in the experience of making dance with us,” says Mary Love Ward, Artistic Director of MLDP.

MLDP has reached hundreds of people through its community dance education programs which have included an apprentice dancer program, free annual community appearances, collaborations with local public schools and, this year, a global dance training project that involves a free on-line video tutorial aimed at providing important training tools to aspiring dancers across the world.

Mary Love Dance Projects is in its third season as a professional dance company in residence at The Center for Contemporary Dance, and seeks to honor classicism, while maintaining relevance through collaboration, choreographic innovation and multi-media work. In recent years, MLDP has been selected to perform in New York City’s DUMBO Dance Festival, CoolNY Dance Festival, The Florida Dance Festival, and Atlanta’s BlabberMouth Dance Festival among other prestigious presentations.
